On a Roll
My breakfast roll coverage had diminished over recent months as homemade breakfast soup continues to meet my start-of-the-day food needs.
I still find time for the occasional one at Maialino, of course, and today I had the opportunity to try a place that was new to me, On a Roll.
On Dalkeith Road just a couple of doors down from the Edinburgh Food Studio, it’s an established little cafe doing a brisk trade in roll-based sustenance.
I stuck to a familiar pattern opting for a bacon and black pudding roll. This was cooked to order and soon delivered by one of the efficient counter women.
The fresh morning roll was generously packed with filling, with two chunky slices of black pudding and profuse bacon rashers. It proved hearty eating and addressed morning hunger with minimal fuss.
So overall, On a Roll looks to be a reliable purveyor of freshly made breakfast rolls. I enjoyed what I had and would be happy to visit again. If you’re in the neighbourhood pop in and give it a try.
