My eye was caught by Sitooterie, a brilliantly named cafe at Stenhouse Cross, on a couple of recent trips past on the bus. With a little time in hand one morning, I had the opportunity to pop in.
The interior is very smartly appointed with bright red furnishings including a park bench. I was in takeaway mode but had time to linger on the bench while items were prepared.
I opted for a black pudding and bacon roll then added an espresso. As part of their morning deal this cost only £2.50, which proved cracking value.
After the cheery counter woman had bid me good day, I walked and ate. The espresso was from Matthew Algie. I’m not a fan but this was made to a respectable standard.
The roll was highly enjoyable with a thick slice of soft black pudding and a couple of well-cooked rashers. It chased away morning hunger in fine style.
So overall, Sitooterie had some good grub to back up its splendid name. I’m rarely in these parts other than passing through, but I’d be happy to visit again and would recommend it to you.
