Tea & Cake
Regular guest quester Graham’s regular guest quests have got less regular since his return to tending principally to the personal outcomes of the people of Montrose rather than loafing around with me in Edinburgh.
When the prospect of breakfast in Dundee with sir arose I jumped at the chance. Dr Google suggested we might like to visit Tea & Cake on Exchange Street and I was reluctant to disagree.
A smart cafe with comfy seats, we sat in what looked to be the comfiest corner. Menus were brought by the excellently friendly staff.
We were both hooked in by talk of shakshuka – eggs served with a tomato stew and their own homemade breakfast loaf – and the BLT that featured bloody mary tomatoes, so decided to share both.
The eggs appeared first served in a skillet then the bacon roll soon followed. Extra plates were delivered to aid our sharing.
The egg dish was warmly spiced and thoroughly delicious. The eggs featured brightly runny yolks, the bread had a lovely cakey crumb and it all made for very pleasing eating.
The bacon roll was very good too, although I couldn’t discern much distinctive bloody maryness in the tomatoes. It was delicious, still.
So overall, Tea & Cake did a very accomplished job of tending to our breakfast needs. I’d be happy to visit again and would heartily recommend it to you. I’m confident you’ll be impressed.
