With my sister Anne and brother Grant round for Saturday evening fun times – which at the moment constitute sorting through junk and looking at ancient family photographs – dining options seemed likely to revolve around takeaway menus.
We settled upon Chinese as our theme and with the help of the trusty Hungryhouse app I alighted upon Lucky Star.
The menu was pretty standard so we stuck to our usual preferences: I ordered way too much so it comfortably fed us for Sunday breakfast and lunch, too.
With the rugby on at Murrayfield it took a little over an hour to arrive, but this was much as expected.
We tucked in to chicken fried rice, chicken chow mein, aubergine, roast duck, mixed starters, plain noodles, chips and the inevitable prawns crackers.
Everything was delivered to a good standard. Highlights were the ribs with the starters which were gloriously messy, the aubergine dish which was really good, and the large spring rolls which were flavour packed. The noodle and rice dish provided good substance.
So overall, Lucky Star did a very good job of addressing our lazy familial hunger. I’d order from it again and be sure to repeat order the mixed starter box which was one of the strongest of its type I’ve had.
