Simple Simon’s Pies

On a bracing Saturday morning, I took a turn towards the Edinburgh Farmers’ Market in hopes of finding something tasty to munch on at a late breakfast hour. I alighted upon Simple Simon’s Pies which looked like a suitable candidate.

Stall

Stall

The stall offers a very broad selection of carefully crafted pies with fillings ranging from the traditional to the experimental. Most of the stock is available for taking home to heat yourself, but they have a small number of hot pies for immediate consumption.

I opted for a hot mince n tattie pie (£4.95) which was helpfully cut into quarters by the cheery stallholder. I was soon on my way munching as I walked.

The pie proved really good with the pastry beautifully flaky and the tatties in particular very good indeed. It was a pie of considerable quality.

So overall, Simple Simon’s served me a delicious dish at my time of pie need. I’d be happy to recommend them to you and look forward to trying more flavours from their selection in the coming months.
