Te-Bi Island

The southside is a great location for food and drink businesses but the attrition rate is pretty high. On various jaunts last month I’d spotted a number of new places joining the fold or taking over from fallen heroes.

I’ve already spoken about Braw and had intended visiting the new permanent premises of Bonnie Burrito where Potatoland used to be, but I was intercepted by Te-Bi Island, the new occupants of the sadly departed Enjoy Gusto Italiano.

Promising rice rolls and tea, I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it. I popped in to see what was what.

The place is really smartly appointed with light wood and white tiles giving it a really tranquil feel.

They do a meal deal for one of the large rice rolls and you choice of tea for £7.50 so that sounded pretty good to me. I opted for teriyaki beef as my filling and plain green tea.20160902_132234

The tea was good without being too remarkable but I really enjoyed the rice roll. A crisp nori seaweed shell was filled with hot rice and deliciously marinated beef and veg for crunch and freshness. It was beautifully seasoned and deeply satisfying.

So overall, Te-Bi Island is an excellent new addition to our lunchtime options. Previous occupants have shown that this is a tough location so I’d urge you to visit soon to give this exciting new business a chance to build a foothold. I look forward to many future visits to try more items from their menu.
