Screaming Peacock

It was really good to see Fountainbridge Street Food Friday so busy on a recent visit, despite spit-spots growing into full-blown ‎rainy rain. What’s more there was a trader that was new to me, so I got the opportunity to give them the once over.

I was joined today by Anne and Ru who between them tried the Wee Greek Kitchen, Babu and Orinoco. They were very happy with their choices.

Having said hi to the folks at Alplings and Pizza Geeks, I headed towards the new stall in question which was called Screaming Peacock. It promised venison sausages and ‎burgers, and pheasant burgers. I opted for the latter topped with cheese (£5) which was cooked to order.

Served on a morning roll, the cheeseburger was ‎topped with lettuce and mayo, then wrapped in a napkin to aid ease of munching.

It proved a a decently juicy eat which was good news as pheasant can often be very dry. The addition of the well-melted cheese was a good idea to bring mouthfuls together. It was really good fare.

So overall, once they iron out some queue management issues – they were rather slow – the Screaming Peacocks look to have a good new offering to enhance the diversity of our street food provision. I’ll need to try their venison next time as it looked good. Give them a go next time your see their peacock-feathered ‎stall.
