Pizza Geeks

It’s always good to see new street food traders joining the increasingly high-quality roster we support in Edinburgh and across Scotland.

I caught the Pizza Geeks on their first day trading at Stockbridge Market, a few weeks back.

With an impressive looking mobile wood-fired oven, the three enthusiastic young chaps were offering an extensive list of toppings to their pizzas, which they prepared and cooked in under five minutes. For a new trader, they had their processes working impressively well.

I asked for a recommendation and was rewarded with a salame and Stornoway black pudding topped beauty (£6). It was delivered bubbling hot so it required a little pause before eating, which was a challenge as its aroma was plenty tempting.

The dough was fresh and soft and the toppings of really pleasing quality. The base could have been just a touch more crisp for my tastes, but that will come in time. It was really good stuff.

So overall, the Pizza Geeks are offering a smart new pizza option so I look forward to seeing them appearing regularly at upcoming markets and events. They’re trading throughout August at the Boxsmall market atop Waverley so make sure to visit.
