Meros
It was a little bit of a dreich Friday so it seemed a good plan to go and support the freezing traders at the Fountainbridge Friday street food market.

Stall
And indeed I found a collection of chattering teeth but also a brave cohort of punters seeking a lunchtime feed.
Shrimpwreck were doing brisk business, which was good to see. My eye was caught by a new stall, Meros, that was trading for only the second time.

Tacos
The friendly stallholders recommended the tacos filled with slow cooked chicken (£6).
They were soon about the task of heating a regular corn and intriguing looking blue corn taco shells, then filling them with finely shredded chicken, with toppings of salsa verde, lettuce, coriander and red onion pickle added.

Menu board
With items in hand, I took a seat at one of the nearby tables and tucked in. The tacos proved really good eating with the chicken packing moist flavour and the taco shells really thin and crisp. They were right up there with the tacos from El Cartel and Bodega, for me, although as regular readers will know I’m not a great fan or judge of Mexican food.
So overall, Meros was an intriguing new street food option. I’ll be interested to hear what better judges of this cuisine think of what they’re serving, as it struck me as very good quality. I’d be happy to visit again and would commend it to you.
