Dr Noodles

A stunningly sunny day on the Tayside riviera took me to Dr Noodles on the Nethergate for some much needed lunchtime sustenance.

I was joined by first time quester Pauline who used to work in these parts so knew the local eateries a good deal better than I. Dr Noodles is a firm favourite with her.

With branches in St Andrews and Aberdeen, Dr Noodles claims to be “internationally renowned.” I was keen to work out whether that meant it was good or not.

The ordering process, and the whole place, is pretty similar to Red Box in Edinburgh. Pauline chose a small chicken satay noodle box, while I opted for a regular beef teriyaki noodle.

The boxes were filled with pre-prepared whatnots by the friendly and efficient counter man. With items in hand we took a seat at one of the tables in the smartish interior and tucked in.

Without causing fiery alarm in the heather community, it was decently hearty and filling stuff. Beyond the beef and noodles, there wasn’t much else to speak of except the odd chunk of pepper. It could have used a little more variety in that regard, but perhaps more accurate ordering on my part would have been rewarded.

So overall, Dr Noodles did a grand job of addressing our lunchtime hunger with the minimum of fuss. For a quick and inexpensive bite on the go it looks a reliable spot. Pop by next time you’re in the neighbourhood.
