It seemed fitting to round out my month of #dumpthejunk, during which I ate no late-night pizza and nary a munchy box came close to my lips, with a healthy “power breakfast” of yoghurt, seeds, nuts, banana and honey.
The purveyor of this fine bowl of healthiness was Cafe Montagu, just along from my old school playing fields at Goldenacre.
With a very welcoming pair of counter women full of cheery smiles and happy banter, I took a seat and contemplated the menu. Their all-day breakfasts with a mix of healthy and fried are the main focus, with additional items like soups, sandwiches and cakes rounding things out.
With my healthy breakfast ordered, I had only a moment or two to wait before it was with me. It was a self-assembly job; I made a reasonable job of putting together a bonnie enough looking plateful.
It proved good eating with a mix of flavours and textures making for enjoyable mouthfuls. It was just what was required before I headed off on further jaunts around the city.
So overall, Cafe Montagu is doing enjoyably good work. I’d be happy to visit again when next I’m looking for an energising breakfast. You should pop in and give the place a whirl, too.
