Matilda’s Deli – SADLY NOW CLOSED
With time against me on a rainy old day in Glasgow, I popped in to Matilda’s Deli, just along from central station, for a quick bite on the go.
With a mix between some sit-in seats and a busy takeaway counter, their offering focusses on various sandwich and panini options, with soup and cakes to back that up.
After touching virtually every sandwich in the shop I settled upon the tuna melt. I added a regular portion of their soup of the day which was tomato and basil.
I was eating on the go which I just about managed to achieve without destroying any of my threads.
First up was the soup which was at a helpfully drinkable temperature. It was one of the better versions of this staple flavour combo that I’ve tried of late. It had a smooth texture, and the flavour never drifted into over-sweetness. I liked it a lot.
The rather squished tuna melt was less good but did the job of chasing lunchtime hunger.
So overall, Matilda’s was a good place to find in my hour of need. It kept things simple and addressed my lunchtime requirements for a very reasonable cost. I’d be happy to visit again.
