The quest for late night pizza excellence took me to Franco’s on Raeburn Place. Having been part of the community for many a year, it is now surrounded by a plethora of good dining options, with Scran & Scallie and Rollo nearest at hand. I popped in on a busy Tuesday night.

I ran into Ronan and Emily from Fresh Revolution just as I was about to enter. They were tickled to catch me on a secret late-night mission.

With a very extensive menu across chippy delights and Italian favourites, I was drawn in by mention of a montanara pizza, which brought together pepperoni, onion and tricolore peppers.

They were doing a roaring trade so my freshly cooked item took a minute or two to arrive, but it was with me soon enough.

With photos snapped, I tucked in with considerable relish, eating as I walked up Comely Bank Avenue. It was a decently good item with the base quite substantial but light, and the topping plentiful and punchy. It did the job rather well.

So overall, I liked my visit to Franco’s. It’s a place that has a good community feel to it and the warmth of welcome was really pleasing to see. I’d be happy to pop back for another visit, next time I’m craving late night snacks in this neighbourhood.
