After saying hi to the Edible Edinburgh peeps, I made my way towards the food stands. I was met with the smiling face of Martin from Alplings who introduced me to his neighbouring stall, the Kitchen Cupboard.
Serving a broad range of stuff from quiches to cakes to various savouries, I was piqued by the chap’s talk of how all the items were scratch made to exacting standards.
His tale of apple and onions sweated down to form the base of the pork and beef sausage roll had me hooked in from the outset. I ordered one (£2) with the stallholder pointing me in the direction of one that was more amenable to eating on the go.
It proved very good eating with the blend of meats and sweet backbone making for enjoyable mouthfuls. It pleased me greatly.
So overall, the Kitchen Cupboard is definitely worth a visit, as not only do they have a good food story to tell, their produce backs up the tale. I look forward to trying more of their treats in the future.
