Stall

Stall

With my Leeds adventures behind me, all that was left was to bore people with stories about the fun I had, then get back to the fun and frolics in Edinburgh.

My first frolicking stop was at the Farmers’ Market on Castle Terrace, where I was in the mood for something lightly snacksome. It was a lovely sunny day that prompted the donning of black linen trousers.

Soup

I popped to the Claire Leslie Farms stall, which serves a range of different things including Tay Valley fruits, tasty jams, scotch eggs and soup. The latter two fitted the bill very nicely, so I ordered them up from the friendly stallholder.

The soup of the day (£2) was vegetable. This was a lovely mix of chunky items, brought together in a golden broth with a lovely buttery aroma. I was really pleased with it.

Scotch egg

The scotch egg (£2.50) was similarly tasty, with a really punchy black pudding bringing real character to proceedings. The crumb had really good crunch to it, as well.

It was highly reminiscent of my recent sampling from the Pea Green Boat at Stockbridge Market, but that was no bad thing.

So overall, the Claire Leslie Farms stall is doing good work. I enjoyed both items that I tried today so would be pleased to visit again. Pop by and check out their wares next time you’re at the market.
