It had been a good wee while since I’d made a visit to Stockbridge market. I still haven’t quite settled into a routine in 2015, for one reason or another, and particularly haven’t got to grips with weekends, lately.
Anyhoo, it was a joy to be back at the buzzing enterprise that the Sunday market has now become. It was good to see a blend of old favourites, like Babu and Harajuku, alongside some new offerings. My eye was caught by the Wee Greek Kitchen, so I stopped there to try their wares.
Serving a range of Greek classics, today’s selection was souvlaki, spanakopita and baklava. I opted for the middle of the three, with a nice sized portion of the spinach and feta pie costing £2.50.It proved very tasty eating with beautifully crisp, light and flaky pastry encasing profuse filling that packed a gloriously punchy amount of fragrant dill. It was simple and really pleasing.
So overall, I was impressed with the Wee Greek Kitchen. It’s good to see another good Greek place in the city to sit alongside the likes of as the Richmond Cafe Bistro. I’d recommend that you stop by their stall next time you spot them at the market.
