Review of the Year 2014 – January

The year started on a high note with our review of the excellent Rollo, on Raeburn Place. It was our busiest review of the month and one of the most popular of the whole year.

We’ve been regular visitors through the year, as the excellent blend of small plate dishes and excellent wine has been a real winner. It’s one of the friendliest places in town, too.

La Garrigue and The Apiary were both excellent, also. La Garrigue’s owner, Jean-Michel was the first ever contributor to Scran Salon (of which more next month), and we took the Scran show on the road to The Apiary in November.

Other standout meals were had at The Vintage and Yak & Yeti.

To top off a very impressive month, we sampled five-star street food from Union of Genius’ Dumbo the Soup Van.

On the downside, the Deacon’s House and the Castle Cafe were two of the worst places of the whole year, so brought their own particular slice of doom and gloom to the month. They’re both best avoided in 2015.
