Combining a greengrocer, deli and cafe, it has a similar feel to somewhere in between Earthy and Henri, as a reference point for Edinburgh readers. I liked the interior and feel of the place, very much.
Service at the counter was friendly and prompt. My requirements were simple: espresso and bacon roll. I was pleased to note their bacon was from Ramsay of Carluke. The items were soon with me, served on branded crockery. The espresso, a Bei & Nannini, was a decent Italian roast, so did the job pretty nicely.
The bacon roll was outstandingly good embodying everything a good bacon roll should. The bacon was of excellent quality and had been cooked so that the plentiful rashers of back bacon were lightly crisped but still wonderfully meaty. The fresh morning roll was lovely, too.Later that same morning, I was introduced to Maker’s Bistro, in Alloa, which is a very smart little social enterprise cafe, showcasing similarly good quality local produce. It’s fair to say I enjoyed my trip to central Scotland.
So overall, I was most impressed with the Greengrocer Cafe. It served me one of the best bacon rolls I’ve had in all quests. It’s a very smart little deli cafe, too. When you’re next in Stirling, I’d make it a priority to visit.
