A traditionally appointed Chinese place, complete with lazy Susans and a back page menu entirely in Chinese (for those in the know), the interior is light, airy and smart.
From the extensive menu, I started with hot and sour soup, then followed with one of their clay pot dishes, a lamb casserole. The inevitable fried rice was added for the sake of carbs. The soup promptly arrived and looked neat and tidy. It packed a good amount of heat and sourness, in a nicely harmonious balance. The soup was packed with a good selection of chicken pieces, sweetcorn, tofu and a couple of little sweet prawns. It was a satisfying start to proceedings.
The main course was to the same very good standard. The lamb was profuse, tender and delicious, with fragrant spicing. The rice was light and a good accompaniment. So overall, I was pleased with what I found at Wong’s. It’s a high quality, friendly neighbourhood Chinese doing good work. I’d be happy to visit again to try more dishes from their menu.
