Having arrived on Lothian Road just a couple of months back, No 63 has joined the little stretch of shops that includes Simply Sandwiches and Freshcut, which provide the large offices across the road with quick and inexpensive breakfast and lunchtime options.

I visited at breakfast time, pausing during a very sunny and warm walk to work.

The interior has been given a refresh and the welcome was equally bright and breezy. I placed my order for a haggis and bacon roll.

The friendly counter woman cooked items to order, promptly loading a generous portion of both items on to a fresh morning roll and topping with brown sauce, as per my specification.

It proved to be a filling and enjoyable eat, with good back bacon and profuse haggis. It set me up very nicely for a busy day of action and adventure.

So overall, I thought No 63 was doing a pretty good job. Prices are very reasonable and quality is decent, so it’s another good little place for grabbing an informal snack on the go, either if you need a good feed before a Festival show or if you’re looking to ward off last evening’s excesses. I’ll be back for another breakfast roll at some point, I dare say.
